Shumla Archaeological Research and Education Center is a non-profit dedicated to documenting and digitally preserving the rock art of the Lower Pecos Canyonlands. The organization was established in 1998 by Dr. Carolyn Boyd, and over the past several decades has documented dozens of rock art sites and amassed an incredible library of data. Between 2008-2019 I held a variety of positions on Shumla research projects ranging from field school student to Project Archaeologist. In my different positions, I learned the intricacies of not only rock art documentation, but also research design, data collection, and project management. I have been fortunate to collaborate on a number of publications with Shumla team members, and I look forward to continuing my collaboration with Shumla into the future
