I’m Charles. |
I'm an archaeologist based in West Texas. Very broadly my archaeological research focuses on earth oven technology, rock art, rockshelters, caves, experimental archaeology, lithic technologies, and perishable technologies. Much of my work is focused in the Lower Pecos regions of Texas where I have excavated earth ovens in open-air and sheltered sites, including Eagle Cave (pictured above), a deeply stratified rockshelter containing a 13,000-year record of Indigenous lifeways. I have worked on numerous rock art projects with Shumla Archaeological Research and Education Center as well as Sacred Sites Research in Texas, Wyoming, Montana, and Utah. I also specialize in Structure from Motion (SfM) photogrammetry and applying SfM methods to archaeological research questions.
I'm passionate about Indigenous centered projects, teaching, mentorship, collaboration, and I find joy in sharing my excitement for archaeology with others. When not doing archaeology I find relaxation in the outdoors and spending time with friends and family. |
